Toyota Land Cruiser or Nissan Patrol 4x4s seating up to 6 guests plus the driver, air-conditioned, with seat belts on every seat. Vehicles are inspected weekly and tyres are deflated for dune terrain before every drive.
Safety Information
Dune bashing is carried out by RTA-permitted desert drivers on a route they drive several times a week. Guests with back, neck or heart conditions, and pregnant travellers, should skip the dune-bashing leg — tell us at booking and you can travel to the camp directly at no extra cost.
Tour Requirements
No fitness requirement and no prior experience needed. A government-issued ID or hotel key card helps the driver confirm pickup. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
What to Wear
Short answer: light, breathable clothing with a layer for after dark, and closed shoes if you plan to sandboard.
The majlis lounge is air-conditioned, so you may want a light layer indoors even in summer. Outside, desert temperatures drop quickly once the sun goes down between November and February. Baby seats are not available in desert 4x4s, so infants and toddlers are held by a guardian throughout the drive. The indoor seating is generally easier with young children than open-air benches.
